The 3 Listening Strategies Every
Leader Should Know
In today’s fast-paced workplace, leaders are expected to communicate clearly, respond quickly, and build trust across teams. Yet one of the most powerful leadership skills is often overlooked: listening.
In this engaging and research-based session, Dr. Laura Janusik—founder of Listening to Change and nationally recognized listening expert—shares three science-backed listening strategies that every leader should know. Drawing on more than 20 years of research on how the brain processes communication, Dr. Janusik explains why most of us think we’re good listeners… but often aren’t.
Participants will learn:
-
Why listening is harder than we think (and what your brain is doing while someone else is talking)
-
The difference between hearing, responding, and truly listening
-
Three practical, immediately applicable listening strategies that strengthen trust, reduce miscommunication, and improve collaboration
-
How better listening directly impacts employee engagement, performance conversations, and workplace culture
This session moves beyond theory and into actionable techniques leaders can implement immediately—whether navigating difficult conversations, coaching team members, or strengthening organizational culture.
Attendees will leave with practical tools to elevate their leadership presence and create more meaningful, productive workplace relationships.
