Human Resources Specialist
Security Benefit (SB) is seeking an HR Specialist to join our Human Resources team. SB has been dedicated to helping clients plan and save for retirement for nearly five decades. Over the last several years it has become a top provider of retirement products and services through a nationwide network of independent financial representatives across the U.S. Through our series of innovative products and solutions, we continue to help Americans successfully travel down the path “To and Through Retirement.” This position is located in our Topeka, Kansas headquarters. SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
As an integral part of the Human Resources Department, the HR Specialist will provide administrative support in the areas of recruiting, onboarding and maintaining employee data. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Recruiting.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure new hire paperwork is completed and accurately processed to maintain HR data integrity.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.

Enter and maintain timely, accurate information in the HRIS, including new hire information and changes to current records.

Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.

Schedule candidate interviews and coordinate travel.

Work with recruiters to submit background checks, track for completion and obtain employee eligibility verifications.

Assist with recruitment and interview process.

Conduct candidate professional references.

Identify process improvement opportunities for workflows.

May represent the company at recruiting events and participate in college job fairs.

Perform other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Educated on employment law or willingness to learn.
Education and Experience:

A minimum of two years job-related experience, preferably in a human resource department.

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Physical Requirements:
-
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
-
Must be able to access and navigate each department at the companies facilities.
